Nearly 18 years ago, I was in a tragic car accident that turned my once independent life into a life surrounded by physical, architectural and attitudinal barriers. My love for the outdoors and the recreational activities I enjoyed prior to such as, kayaking, water skiing and hiking became something out of reach and seemed nearly impossible at the time. Today, my life is fulfilled with all those activities and more!
In June, I Guest Hosted Discover Wisconsin's "Something for Everyone - Accessible Wisconsin" episode. As your guest host, someone who truly understands the "importance of accessibility" in Wisconsin and our country as a whole, it was an honor to present this special episode to you.
In this special episode of Discover Wisconsin we’re opening the outdoors to everyone and showcasing some great places, events and equipment that are helping people of all abilities get out and enjoy Wisconsin’s great outdoors.
Please take a moment to share this with your family and friends. This is an amazing opportunity to help us educate and bring awareness to the general public about disabilities as a whole, share accessible destinations and activities in Wisconsin with families and individuals with disabilities who have no idea these exciting adventures exist!
To learn more about our accessible destinations, learn how you can get involved and watch past and present episodes go to DiscoverWisconsin.com.
